Released in 2025, Takayna – The heart of Lutruwita is a journey to the vast and threatened landscapes of Australia’s largest temperate rainforest in northwest Lutruwita / Tasmania.  Told through the powerful stories of Tasmanian Aboriginal community members, frontline activists, scientists and musicians.   

Toward Takayna – Concerto for 2 Guitars composed by Westlake in 2021, underscores the movie’s opening title sequence.

‘In 2019, with the famous naturalist Bob Brown as our guide, my wife Janice and I took a five-day road tour of the Tarkine, which is known as Takayna by the first nations custodians of this place. Toward Takayna is my musical response to this journey – a musical acknowledgement of this rich and delicate environment and perhaps a way for me to hold its enchanting beauty in my hand.

Toward Takayna was composed for, and dedicated to my two dear friends Slava and Leonard Grigoryan.”
