A single repeated idea oscillates between the two pianos, and is tensed in a playful dialogue.It builds in momentum and unfolds into less static material that draws, and is inspired by, the telepathic musical communication and uncanny chemistry that I have witnessed on a number of occasions between Michael Keiran Harvey and Bernadette Harvey (the Australian Virtuosi) in their performances.
The piece is a single ten-minute movement and is dedicated to Michael and Bernadette.
Oscillations for two pianos was commissioned by Australian Virtuosi with the assistance of the Australia Council.
